Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

The propoganda that continues to emerge from certain corners of the media universe is this: Peyton Manning is getting better. Peyton Manning will be fine. Peyton Manning is throwing with more zip. It all sounds pretty good but increasingly the more I hear from around the NFL, the more I doubt the accuracy of those statements.

Then there's the latest from Sports Illustrated which says that Manning has actually had four neck surgeries (not three as previously believed), has bone spurs in his neck and may have some sort of genetic neck issue.

People across the NFL continue to have doubts that Manning will throw a football effectively ever again and this new medical information only boosts that belief. Maybe Manning is a miraculous healer but four surgeries? Four? In two years? On the neck? And we're supposed to just believe he's doing well? Manning isn't from Krypton, last I checked.

This increasingly looks very bad for Manning despite so many leaks about positive outlooks and a flowery prognosis. This also explains the more aggressive stance the owner of the Colts recently took regarding Manning's contract. He knows all of this. He knows the major risk it is to sign Manning.

No, despite what you hear from some media corners, this is not good.

And the doubts that he'll ever play at a high level again remain high.

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

You have got to be joking 8DIRTYBIRDS!!   Micheal Vick does not even belong in the same discussion as Peyton Manning...as a player or citizen!!  Numbers in the NFL don't lie fool....The only thing Vick is better at is rushing yds, granted - he is one of the best.  But the bottom line is this....WINS (be it  Super Bowl, Playoffs etc..) Manning beats Vick in that all important catagory..hands down!!  Don't make foolish statements..just because you are a Falcons fan!!  COME ON MAN!!

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

You are right clown, he won't be the player Vick is, he won't kill dogs and be generally ineffective on the field, with flashes of greatness mixed in with mostly poor decision making and mediocre play...

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

Does not matter if manning is damaged beyond repair ! Irsay has to try to keep him in Indy with a redone contract of face a HUGE backlash from fans in Indianapolis. , peyton is Indianapolis .... Would be like Boston getting rid of Tom Brady or New york getting rid of Dimaggio ( oops the yanks did try that for williams , but Yawkey nixed it at the last minute. Lol)

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

Day after Irsay comes out and says he wants Peyton back if he it is done his way and redoes his contract. All these HACKS come out today with reports tht Manning is so damaged. I see a orchestrated effort from the Irsays and the Media to stop Manning with all these unnamed sources. I go back to my original comment if Peyton has no chance of coming back and is not  healthy Irsay would have said BYE to Manning and no one will question it. But, Now it seems to well orchestrated to make Manning appear so damaged no one will take him. Sadly to see this happening. But I still think these HACKS want to do the bidding of Irsay and destroy Manning for what some unbelievable reason excpet controlling some one's career. A 4 time MVP and they think they can do this amazes me. Still think with Irsay wanting Manning but at his terms tells me that Manning is healthy and will play. "So the HACKS will destroy Peyton - SICKENING"

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

Manning may never play again, but the dog-electrocuting/drowning/beating classless criminal thug Vick is still making millions of dollars and playing football in the NFL.  No justice.

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

Peyton is done- for now.  It pains me to continue writing this, but it is true.  Info being disseminated to the public is simply innacurate.  He CANNOT do it physically anymore as we sit here today.  This is not new news to anyone in the know.  Media sources (credible media sources) have been reporting this for several weeks and speculating about this sad news for many months. This is an all-time great, and if he doesn't ever play again, we all lose out.

Manning long-term prognosis continues to be bleak

They told Joe Montana he should never play again with a bad vertabrae in his back. They told him his skills would be diminished and he could hurt himself severely if he continued to play. After surgery and recovery time he continued to play and played well. I'm going to reserve judgement for a while before i say he can't play anymore.
