Reggie Wayne on Peyton Manning: 50-50 chance

INDIANAPOLIS: Everyone seems to have an opinion on if Peyton Manning will be able to physically recover from his neck injury and return to football. Manning teammate, Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne, is no different.

"I think his chances of returning to football are 50-50," said Wayne. "He had some pretty serious surgeries so I'm just not so certain. The one thing about Peyton though is if anyone can come back from this, he can. He works so hard at everything and this is no different. He's a tough guy but we're talking about the neck and that's why I'm not so certain but again if anyone can, he can. He's almost superhuman."

Wayne quickly added, "Now, where he might play, I don't know. That's the question. I hope it works out where he stays with the Colts but even with a great player like Peyton it's a business. Even Peyton isn't immune from the business part of football so it wouldn't shock any of us on the team that if he did play next year, it was somewhere else, because that's the nature of football."

Wayne gave an interesting glimpse in what it's like to be a Colts player these days in a football nation obsessed with Manning’s health.

"Everywhere I go people say to me, 'Please keep Peyton," said Wayne, who is working with Xbox Kinect this week. "I'm not Jim Irsay. It's not my team. Everyone wants Peyton to stay but like I said, it's a business."

"The only good thing about last season was that we never quit. I hated to see our coaching staff get fired. I was close to a lot of those guys and sometimes the media portrayed it as Peyton threw the ball to himself, caught it, snapped the ball, did everything and the rest of us were just nobodies. But we fought. I was proud that we never quit."

Reggie Wayne on Peyton Manning: 50-50 chance

Football is a business!!! Didn't the 49ers let Jerry Rice go? Who in my opinion is the best player to play the game, and I dislike the 49ers more then almost any team! I can think of 28 million reasons to let Peyton go! That's just for his roster BONUS, not salary, due in March. The Colts are prime for a rebuild! Peyton getting hurt showed glaring issues with this team. Do you honestly think bringing Peyton back with a totally new staff, will get you to the Superbowl? Draft Luck or RG3 and start now! Any smart business man would. Don't look at it as a fan! Look at it as a businessman. He will be let go! Watch and see.

Reggie Wayne on Peyton Manning: 50-50 chance

3 neck surgeries in 19 months and continuing to rehab. The critics are doubting Peyton Manning like he is a nobody why he rejuvenated the entire NFL over the past 15 years. He is the greatest player to ever put on a uniform and winning Super Bowls does not make you a Hall of Famer so whoever thinks that way is stupid. I'm going to tell everybody this, if the Colts let Peyton Manning go, they will be making the biggest mistake. I understand their trying to rebuild BUT were talking about Peyton Manning. We don't know if Andrew Luck will be it. He can come in and play like Ryan Leaf. Mel Kiper said Ryan Leaf have that "It Factor" and turned out to be the biggest bust in NFL history. Not saying Andrew Luck will be a bust, but don't judge a book with its cover and we dont know if Andrew Luck will be that great yet. So before the Colts let go Peyton Manning, I say IF HE IS HEALTHY, GIVE HIM ANOTHER YEAR then trade him. He deserves much more respect then this.

Reggie Wayne on Peyton Manning: 50-50 chance

I can't understand why anyone believes the Colts would pay Manning $28 million dollars and then draft a quarterback who will start from day 1.  I'm assuming the Colts will take a 2nd or 3rd round pick, possibly on draft day, and the Peyton era in Indy will be over.  Remember, in addition to the $28 million, the Colts would then have to pay first overall pick money to Andrew Luck.  I just don't see that happening.

Best laugh of the day

"The only good thing about last season was that we never quit. I hated to see our coaching staff get fired.

Even the NFL pregame show guys would say that the Colts quit on their coach and team.

Reggie Wayne on Peyton Manning: 50-50 chance

I am a HUGE NFL fan......... This is insane. So sick of Peyton at this point. 1 SB ring in 14 years. It is what it is.. sometime not good....I don't want that to be story of the week over the SB. The NFL is getting boring in news coverage, speculation, and after the sad Pro-Bowl  the NFL and fans have more to worry about .... "Jouranists" . NFL get over it until it's a story. When Peyton Manning is story of week IN Super Bowl week.....Sad If he was playing OK?.... He's not and maybe never again tho I doubt that.

Everyone seems to have an answer to the current enduring question - will Manning return to the Colts?  And since everyone has an answer, the media publishes every answer.  But that doesn't change the fact that we all have to find out how reality works out.
