OPENING HIT: To say the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a little upset with Chip Kelly is an understatement. They are, well, furious.

A team source confirmed a Register-Guard report from Eugene that Kelly had agreed, then backed out of an agreement to coach the Bucs. It concludes yet another strange chapter in the history of Tampa coaching searches.

The Bucs are angry. One team source called Kelly "wishy-washy" and used a few other choice words. This is from the Bucs team perspective, and I suspect Kelly will give his side very shortly (and that side of the story will be portrayed very differently). But in the end none of this reflects well on Kelly. He looks soft, at least from the NFL side of things.

There is some history behind the Bucs being irritated. Bill Parcells had agreed to become the coach in 1992 and then famously backed out at the last second. That led to one of the funniest (saddest?) quotes in recent NFL history when owner Hugh Culverhouse said: "I feel like I've been jilted at the altar."

Now they've been jilted again.

The Daily Shoutout: Wishy-washy Chip Kelly

Does Bobby Petrino look better for staying 13 weeks then bailing now that Good 'Ol Chip here stays 13 hours then Jettison's back to Oregon. Why would anyone even talk with this guy, knowing that he is under NCAA investigation. Who's next? Jim Tressel? Ah wait, Indy's gonna grab him. Maybe Nick Saban? Who the heck cares. Tampa is in the same division as Atlanta, New Orleans and Carolina. Ryan, Brees and Newton. Does it really matter who coaches Tampa.

Kelly saved the Bucs, really.  No way that offense translates to the NFL.

I don't blame Kelly.  It's his call.  Better to back out than to make a mistake.

Writing your opinion and cutting and pasting info from other papers makes you an, "NFL INSIDER" these days?  Freeman is a clown.  Just a knee-jerk hack who probably is married to the bosses daughter because I can't think of another reason he is employed as a writer.

I can't say it any better, except that you truly are an idiot!!!!!!!
Get your facts right before you show how stupid you are, everything you have said is based on the opinions of others, and heresay from others involved. Get a clue dude.If you even had the slightest bit of knowledge of Chip Kelly you would think differently, do your homework, and then you are excused to your room!!!!!

It's just business... everybody needs to do whats best for themselves. We'll never know what went down between the two sides and so anything even close to "having an opinion" is totally based on information you can't verify... so why care or wahy have an opinion in situations such as these..? Sure it's interesting to hear about it - but in the end it's just "interesting" and that's all
