There was a report the Indianapolis Colts are at least considering disgraced former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as head coach, who is on the Indianapolis staff as a gameday consultant. I checked with a Colts source and he said this: "No way in hell."
But this is the interesting part. The source explained that owner Jim Irsay likes Tressel and does want him to have some sort of role in the organization (a new head coach will have some say in that of course). Which is, well, incredible. If you remember Tressel resigned as Ohio State coach after it was determined the Buckeyes had numerous rules violations under his watch. Ohio State later self-vacated its entire 2010 season.
It would be totally out of the question for the Colts to make Tressel a head coach now. The Colts would be the laughingstock of the NFL.
But it's possible the Colts may keep Tressel in some capacity. Possible, not definite.

Source: 'No way in hell' Tressel will coach ColtsPimp. You STILL failed, during your tantrum, to respond about the Facts! He was run out of town BOTH TIMES FOR CHEATING!! Thats not Really what the Colts want in the front office. I agree with the others. Maybe he could "Showcase" his skills better in Cincinatti. Heck, from there he could manage Professional Thugs! And, still make the Tattoo parties in Columbus!

Source: 'No way in hell' Tressel will coach ColtsJust because he screwed up(and got caught, because hey, more coaches are cheating that you think), doesn't mean the man does not still have the talent to contribute to success of a football team. That is why he is still with Indianapolis. I can tell you if he was coaching, they would not be a laughing stock. I think he would be able to do just fine if he was coaching an NFL team and I can't stand him or the Buckeyes. Apparently, the media writer here feels that if you get caught cheating, your skills as a coach, etc. must automatically leave you at the time you get caught. LOL, what a freak the writer is here.

Source: 'No way in hell' Tressel will coach ColtsLet's see - the Colts as a laughing stock. They draft Jeff George and trade away their entire offensive line and future star Andre Rison in order to get George. After two playoff wins and a bobbled catch away from a trip to the Super Bowl in 1995, they fire Ted Marchibroda during the offseason. In the late 90's, during a season inwhich the would win only 4 games or so, Jim Irsay began making a lot of noise about moving the team out of the city, the concept of "negotiating from a position of strength" apparently foreign to him. And then of course there is the legendary press conference "playoff" meltdown by Jim Mora. So, this team seems to be ok with being a laughing stock.
Are theys seriously looking at Marty Morningweg and Wade Philips? Let me guess, the guy in charge of hiring coaches for the Colts is the same one who was in charge at IU when they hired Kelvin Sampson. |

Source: 'No way in hell' Tressel will coach ColtsMultiple National Championships?!?! He won ONE!! (on a bad call at that) Unless you count Youngstown State DII. Where he ALSO got caught Cheating and run out of town!! I think Laughing Stock is a good analogy.
So you DONT count his 4 National Titles @ Youngstown State? (Subdivision now but was Division I AA , NOT DII, like you state) Which is only 1 division lower AND actually PLAYS A FREAKING PLAYOFF!!!! So, YEAH, I am counting his rings from Youngstown State. Winning FOUR National titles in a PLAYOFF FORMAT seems much more applicable to me than winning ONE single BCS game. (Which he's done multiple times too if you want to split hairs) How does it hurt his resume? Laughingstock is a good analogy for your cognitive abilities. |

Source: 'No way in hell' Tressel will coach ColtsFreeman, your such a douche. Not that I think the Colts will or should hire Tressel, but they would be far from a laughingstock because of it. How would it be any different than hiring Pete Carrol like the Sea Hawks did? Vacated wins, numerous violations on his watch, bowl and post season bans. Sound familiar Cletus? Your the worst. And then an hour later.... What a douche. I doubt Colts fans will care about what happened in college if he could come in and make them a winner. He is a good coach. I doubt it would happen, but this is certainly no worse than the Seahawks hiring Pete Carroll. Ask Seattle how they feel.If you didn't read my previous post, you are scarily thinking on the same plane as I am. Even the same vocabulary. |
