There was a report the Indianapolis Colts are at least considering disgraced former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as head coach, who is on the Indianapolis staff as a gameday consultant. I checked with a Colts source and he said this: "No way in hell."
But this is the interesting part. The source explained that owner Jim Irsay likes Tressel and does want him to have some sort of role in the organization (a new head coach will have some say in that of course). Which is, well, incredible. If you remember Tressel resigned as Ohio State coach after it was determined the Buckeyes had numerous rules violations under his watch. Ohio State later self-vacated its entire 2010 season.
It would be totally out of the question for the Colts to make Tressel a head coach now. The Colts would be the laughingstock of the NFL.
But it's possible the Colts may keep Tressel in some capacity. Possible, not definite.

If he takes the job in 3 months the fans would love now they are being quite nasty. People the Colts were 2 and 14. Good grief the only coach that could do something good is Tressel. I believes he will be offered the Job I just question whether he will take it.

Tressel got into trouble for LYING to the NCAA, LYING to his bosses in violation of his contract, and KNOWINGLY playing INELIGIBLE players for an entire season and bowl game. How was Tressel trying to "take the heat for the AD and President?" They didn't LIE and CHEAT. If Tressel had not LIED and had reported that he KNEW his players were violting the rules, he would still be there today because he is/was a very, very good coach. Oh, yea, and "All colleges go against the rules" is another moronic cop out. Yes, a lot of little things slip by but LYING in order to play INELIGIBLE players is not a little thing. Please tell us what the President and AD did that needed someone to take the heat for them? Oh yea, they BACKED their coach and believed him when he LIED repeatedly, violated his contract requiring him to tell them when the knew of violations and LIED to the NCAAA when he certified that he had no knowledge of violations. |

If you think that this is the worst thing in college sports, you are seriously delusional. However, I don't think Tressel would be a good NFL coach anyways. Maybe a great advisor, but nothing more. |

For someone who doesn't know all of the details surrounding Jim Tressels resigning ( taking the heat off the athletic director and the president of the university) , you sure want to hit below the belt. And yes he would get a GREAT referral. Best coach OSU has ever had!!!!!! Or ever will be. Urban Meyer will be good if we get the one in good health and no family problems. He and Jim are good friends. All colleges go against the rules in little or big ways. You make Jim T sound worse then Jerry Sandusky!. You try and babysit 100 young guys.
