Today's Daily Shoutout: Shut it, Eli critics

OPENING HIT: No, seriously, shut it if you still think Eli Manning can't win, or is a wimp, or makes funny facial expressions, or whatever it is people criticize Manning for these days. That come from behind win against Dallas was classic and the third best story this season behind the Packers and Tim Tebow is Manning. He's been on fire all year. In fact, I could easily argue that after Aaron Rodgers no one is playing the position better than Manning.

Sunday night was a perfect example of the difference between Tony Romo and Manning. Manning is a winner with a Super Bowl title under his belt and Romo is a stat machine. I'd rather have the winner.

Behind that boyish Manning face is a killer. I mean, stone, cold killer.

This statistic from Giants insider Patricia Traina says a great deal: Manning has 20 career game winning drives including six this season alone.

Now, I know Manning will still have his doubters and plenty of them. They raise out of the muck when he throws a few picks and go radio silent when he does well. But they never leave. They stick around like lint in a dryer.

Meanwhile Manning keeps making them look dumb.

THE ANTI-MANNING: Time to stop making excuses for Carson Palmer. He's terrible.

BEST WISHES: To Atlanta coach Mike Smith who experienced chest pains after the Falcons' victory on Sunday. Smith is one of the most sincere and decent men in all of football and I'm told he's home and doing fine.

RAHEEM MORRIS: People around the sport believe his chances of survival are less than 50 percent. It's amazing how things happen in this league. Remember last season when the NFL sang his praises as one of the best young coaches in football?

JEFF TRIPLETTE: Been saying it for years--worst game official in all of sports. He and his crew prove it again.

Today's Daily Shoutout: Shut it, Eli critics

I think you have it correct Mr. Freeman, Eli Manning is pretty good.  In fact you really shouldn't compare him to Tony Romo, Eli is a much better QB.  I am not sure why we don't compare him to his brother Peyton Manning.  In fact Eli might be better than Peyton.  Take away Peyton's weapons and what do you have?  What weapon does Eli have that has been producing over the years?  The Colts had some remarkable receivers, we don't know if Nicks and Cruz will be doing this in a year or two.

It is ridiculous that this is even being discussed at this point. He has great receivers ? Cruz was undrafted, Ballard is .... Well who is Ballard? Nicks is the only real talent. It is no coincidence that every receiver who has played with Eli has excelled. Any fan who watches with both eyes open knows that is Eli. He is pace to throw for 5000 yards. Were his int up last year. Yes but how many different receivers did he have to throw to and of those receivers who many of them knew the offense scheme for more then 5 min. The man is a winner and if not for a horrible defense he would have beat the packers patriots and Dallas with come from behind wins.

You ask how do you like Manning now.Do you think he is the whole team?.If he doesn't have the receivers that he has or the running backs he would just be a MEDIOKER QB.He has the gall to call himself an elite QB and belongs in the top five,ha,I rolled over laughing.Let him keep riding on his brothers coattails he never going to be a great QB.

I don't know if he's overrated.  I still think he beat the best team ever in the superbowl.   Pretty impressive to say that

If you, jugernaut100, believe that statement, you are a moron and should not be allowed to reproduce.

The Giants Defense won that Super Bowl.  Throwing wounded duck passes that have to be caught by pinning the ball to your helmet does not qualify as great quarterback play.

I will admit Eli Manning is having an excellent year but this is the first year he has played like this.  How long has he been in the league?  Let's see Eli repeat his performance this year for a few years in a row and then we will give him some credit.

He will not be able to do it because he is mentally weak.

Lots of quarterbacks can look good for a season. Remember when Matt Cassel stepped in for Tom Brady?  Cassel is really not the guy he looked like that season.

Jeff Hostetler?
Brad Johnson?
Trent Dilfer?
Joe Namath?

Winning a Super Bowl is a TEAM accomplishment and does not mean that a quarterback is great or even good as you can see in the above list.

Romo's another one of those guys who will never be given his due.  He does make a lot of bonehead plays, but occasionally he uses those improvisational skills to make plays out of thin air that few other QBs can match.  I'd take Eli over him in a heartbeat... but I think it's unfair to lay all the Cowboys' recent failures at Romo's feet.
