The Daily Shoutout: CBA deadline is Thursday

OPENING HIT: The NFL and players are scheduled to have the final details of the CBA worked out by Thursday. That was the deadline. Well, um, that's just one day away. How about we pick up the pace fellas?

I'm told there's nothing to worry about. One player rep guaranteed the CBA would be finalized soon and scoffed at the Thursday deadline saying it could be moved back. One of the things the two sides have been doing is working on HGH testing. Once that is wrapped up the CBA will be finalized.

If they don't meet the Thursday deadline my guess is they'll just work beyond it. But there's nothing to worry about.

I hope.

RETIRED PLAYERS: This is extremely interesting if true.

LAST WORD: At the end of Baltimore Ravens practice, two ice cream trucks pulled onto the field. Ravens players went insane. It reminded me of the famous Eddie Murphy ice cream truck skit (which I would link but the language is very NSFW). At first, the players thought it was a prank and were weary but then the two trucks were swarmed and soon players were walking away with various types of ice cream.

The idea belonged to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, who put the deal together in just a few hours, thinking it would be a nice change for camp. Have to say that in over 20 years of covering camps I had never seen that before. It was typical Bisciotti who is maybe the most underrated owner in sports. He spends money, is smart and takes care of his players. Plus, he gets them ice cream.

Can't we all just get along?  How the hell did a nice article about a decent owner turn into " my d#*ks bigger than your "d#*K"?

The Rooney's are now and will always be a class act.  They are not responsible for what their idiotic players do, just how they respond to it.

Stevie B. is and has always shown to be a class act as well.  I'm sure he would be honored to be compared to Mr. Rooney on any level.

The Steelers and the Ravens are a great rivalry, no matter what some no nothing defensive back may say.  Appreciate it while it lasts, when the NFL screws up re-alignment, we may not have it anymore.

FYI - The Jamal Lewis incident occured before he was a Raven - he was still in college when the offense occurred.  He didn't get charged until sometime later when he was a pro.

Bisciotti is by far one of the best owners in the game today. At least he's not a Rooney who lets his players run amuck
Nobody is Rooney, especially Bisciotti.  The closest thing you will find is the Mara family, old school, old money, trophy cases full of hardware.

Ravenmaniac you crack me up. First of all, I'm sure an owner doesn't "let" their players break the law, players are adults who make decisions on their own. Second, if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones. For example :

Sergio Kindle - Drunk Driving, Jamal Lewis - using a cell phone to set up a coke deal, Offensive line coach Andy Moeller - Drunk Driving, Bam Morris - drug posession, David Reed - charged with pot posession, Gerome Sapp - assault, BJ Sams - drunk driving, Corely Fuller - gambling and gun charges, Chris McAlister - DUI, Terrel Suggs - Felony Assault, Cornell Brown, drug posession, Leon Searcy - domestic violence, and...Ray Lewis - initially charged with murder.

All Ravens. Enjoy.

Bisciotti is by far one of the best owners in the game today. At least he's not a Rooney who lets his players run amuck perennially raping chicks, beating their wives and girlfriends, pissing in public, beating up bathrooms, smoking dope, walking out on restaurant bills and generally smearing the team name all over the street.

God for Mr. Bisciotti....pretty classy move if you ask me....it shows he cares about hias players.
