HOW THE LOCKOUT WILL END: Take a break from obsessing over how the USA women choked and get back to the real national obsession, the NFL lockout. It's almost over. How close? Jerry Jones said the negotiations are down to "circumcising mosquitoes." I don't even know where to go with that. But it sounds small.

This is how the lockout will likely end. The final details are worked out over the next 72 hours. Players are asking for monies owed from last year and improved workman's compensation, among other last minute requests. The two sides will dispose of those pesky little circumcised issues.

The owners may vote late this week but there's a solid chance they don't vote until next week. I'm told by several player sources the players won't vote until Friday at the earliest and that debate and subsequent vote could take a few days.

The owners will pass their vote with only five nays and the players will easily pass it with 95 percent ratifying it.

Along the way the sides will settle the Brady lawsuit and any other outstanding issues.

Free agency will begin slightly later than generally known and training camps will also be delayed but we're still down to the lockout being a bad dream just a short time from now.

See you Tuesday.

The Daily Shoutout

Peyton Manning, Drew Brews, Tom Brady, Vincent Jackson, Ben Leber, Logan Mankins, Brian Robison, Osi Umenyiora, Mike Vrabel and Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller have all filed an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL. Yet it's called The Brady Lawsuit.

Can someone please tell me why it's called "The Brady Lawsuit"?

If the reports on the Cardinals trade for Kevin Kolb are true, the lockout will turn into a good dream I don't want to wake up from.

The Daily Shoutout

Two weeks ago on this site, it was, "We should have a deal by the 15th."
One week ago it was, "By the end of the week."
Last Monday it was, "Deal by this Friday."
On Friday it was, "Should be done within 24-48 hours."
Today it's, "final details worked out over the next 72 hours."

It's pretty clear that nobody other than the negotiators really knows... and probably not even them.  Especially since there's another article on this very site today that says the players don't expect to have a deal signed until Friday at the earliest.

At this point, it's pretty safe to say that it's a non-story until the news is, "The new CBA is done and has been signed into law."
