James Harrison is a fool and a genius

By now you've heard some of the really stupid things James Harrison has said. In some ways, it's typical Harrison. Running at the mouth. No filter. The usual dumbass comments about Roger Goodell. Boilerplate Harrsion. Plus, as is the culture now in sports, a homophobic slur is thrown in for good measure. Whatever. We've heard this nonsense from Harrison before.

Oh, and I forgot, Harrison is poised on the front of the magazine holding two pistols. Nice image, James.

But here is where Harrison is brilliant and at his best: pointing out the hypocrisy of the NFL. He says non-guaranteed contracts make players hit higher because the short term benefit of hitting high and getting a concussion outweighs the long-term issue of tearing a knee ligament. He's right.

He says if the league really wanted to protect its players, the season would be cut to 14 games. But the NFL won't do that because the money is too big. In fact, Goodell wants to go to 18 games. Harrison is right about that, too.

His point about shortening training camp and having less hitting in the offseason is also correct.

Harrison is smart. It's just that his intelligent points are clouded by his loud and dumb ones.

If Harrison wanted to be taken more seriously he'd do one thing.

Use a filter.

James Harrison is a fool and a genius

Sounds like freeman is doing alot of kissing harrison`s behind... It always been, the teams that do more hitting in training camp, have fewer injuries during the season. I really don`t remember there being any fewer injuries in the `70s, when they did play 14 games, and I doubt there would be any rise in them if the did go to 18 games. I wonder, since the players are whinning about a pay increase for being forced to play so many more games.... Would they tell the owners to cut their pay if they only played 14 games? Don`t call that man Genius, call that man... Moron. Both harrison, and freeman.

Where in this article do you see anything being mentioned about race?? Are you so racially sensitive that no matter what is written you see ties to racial divide??? Interesting...

Mr.Freeman, just because you agree with Mr.Harrison doesn't make him a genius. Btw, if the league cut to a 14 games season, will the players willing to take a paycut than? Don't think so.

James Harrison is a fool and a genius

I listened to the interview with the special editor (writer) of the article today on ESPN.   What he said was Harrison said to him the gentlemen's agreement is that you hit high, from waist to the top of the letters on the name because a knee injury is 1 1/2 years to career ending and a concussion is a 1 game injury.

But when did the top of the letters end above the head?

Harrison also said that he was fined $5,000 for the hit on Vince Young and $50,000 for the hit on Drew Brees.  He said that the fine was higher becauce Brees is white.  He failed to mention that he was fined $75,000 which was dropped to $50,000 for the hit on Mohammed Massaquoi.

Way to leave that out to prove your point Harrison.

If you wanna stop being fined, stop being a dirty player.  Ray Lewis doesn't get fined half as much and he's a better linebacker than you.  You don't have to be dirty to be good.

Also, on a personal side note, nice cover pic, way to be a role model.

James Harrison is a fool and a genius

A fool and a fool (the player and writer)! Geez, no one and I mean no one with a working brain could call James Harrison smart! He is a thug and always will be a thug, like all professional atheletes he is a freak, by that I mean he posseses physical skills that 99% of the population can't do, but that is it, he posesses no other skills and that includes being a man, a human being with control. I wouldn't pay one penny to see him play and I will forever boycott any "team" he plays on and wow what a teamate he is. He and so many other freaks are what is so wrong about pro sports in the USA. The womens soccer team is all that is right with sports. Don't get me wrong there are so many good freaks out there that play pro sports, that are good humans and contribute to the world, but James Harrison is a buffoon that just plain enjoys violence and the I will take what I want attidude. It has got so, I really don't care if the NFL or NBA ever plays another game, let them all find real work for real money or lets be honest, a lot of them would be in prison where they belong and that is not a racist comment, it cuts across the board, white, black, asian whatever just too many ignorant atheletes that just becuase they are entertainers (goes for hollywood too!) think what they say matters, let it all fail, life will go on and really are we not better off becuase these ignorant fools then would have no voice. Same for this writer, he drinks the same kool aid.

James Harrison is a fool and a genius

I'm not one to rip on a writer, but this article completely confused me. Freeman writes about all the typical Harrison stuff and pulls a couple of labor opinions up as a backdrop for Harrison's genius?  And ABSOLTELY NO mention of this backstabbing buddy-f^%ker throwing his teammates under the bus?

He must have thought long and hard about how to minimize Harrison's idiocy.  "WWWD?"   (What Would Warren Do?)
