THE LATEST ON LABOR TALKS: And by labor, I mean labor. It's only a matter of time before these talks produce a spanking new baby boy. This is the latest. The negotiations on Thursday got the two sides closer on the big whale of an issue, splitting the nine billion dollar pie. In fact, one person with knowledge of the talks explained, enough progress was made that the expectation an agreement on it will be reached over the weekend. At least, that's the direction things seem headed now. The source disputed an ESPN report that agreeing on certain free agency rules was a major sticking point. Until the largest issue of splitting the overall monies is solved, I was told, everything is a major sticking point.
So where are we? Inching closer and closer. The talks are expected to continue through the weekend and are still on track for a handshake agreement next week. Inch by inch. It's getting done. Emphasis on the inch.
See you Monday.
