NFLPA conference call

The plaintiffs fighting the NFL in the antitrust case are scheduled to have a conference call with NFLPA officials and lawyers later in the day on Thursday, I've confirmed.

The call, I'm told, will be to update the plaintiffs on the latest in the negotiations with the owners, not to tell them a deal has been reached. It remains likely both sides will work through the weekend.

My guess remains a handshake agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement will happen next week, not on Thursday or Friday. The talks between the lawyers for both sides have been productive but are still some days away from being finalized, I'm told.

So, cross your damn fingers, and hope both sides are finally getting this thing done.
