More NFL optimism (for now)

There is a still a great deal of work to do, and any agreements could unravel at any day, hour or minute, but it appears the owners and players have made significant headway in reaching a new labor agreement, according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

One high ranking member of the former union estimated to me a new deal would be reached within two to three weeks, if not sooner. “This is the most optimistic I’ve been in many months,” he said.

But, like many sources, he urged extreme caution, saying talks could easily break down. “There’s a great deal of animosity to work through,” he said.

The sides will continue to talk in the coming days.

More NFL optimism (for now)

We have seen glimpses of hope several times in this saga.  They never last very long. We shall see how long this lasts.

Well, it could be worse. But, lets get to some of the hard hitting news, like where each representative goes and what they order when talks break for lunch.

@poutine -  I disagree, I think they should just FIRE this hack writer and have a contest for writer of the week. I am positive any random poster on CBS could do a far better job than this hack. I do think the Internet has destroyed journalism, as most these news sites are pathetic. Having done 30 seconds of research, I find that NO SUCH IMPENDING DEAL has been talked about. So someone who was not supposed to talk about this meeting, says "Hey we are meeting" and Freeman translates that into "A deal is almost done and the season will start July 1st with 24 games this year". This whole story is a joke, now 38 seconds I'll never get back, sigh!

Since when is about 70 words for "Still no deal in NFL labor dispute" a story? They should restructure these "writers'" contracts so that they don't have to produce any copy if this is what they've got. Then again...I'm the one taking the time to reply to it, and likely taking as much time as it took this goof to write the piece in the first place. Not sure who I'm burning with this...guess it's me.
