Tony Sparano: my hero

I'd say Tony Sparano was left twisting in the wind but that'd be an insult to twisting and wind.

Sparano is now my hero. It must have taken every ounce of energy not to punch his boss in the face.

Sparano waited to see if another man, Jim Harbaugh, took his job. Sparano didn't lash out. He didn't publicly complain. He said nothing despite having every right to do so.

In a strange way, the only winner of this fiasco is Sparano. Not the Dolphins and certainly not Harbaugh.

I'm not sure how Sparano and general manager Jeff Ireland can now function. Or Sparano and the team's owner. How is there any modicum of trust?

Sparano was the clear winner, indeed, because he kept his dignity.

This story is getting insane.

And it isn't even close to being over.

Funny--I saw it exactly the opposite. Sparano comes off as weak, I think, as a guy who watches the owner openly pursue another high profile coach without being insulted by it. Where's the self-respect? Don't get me wrong--Ross comes off looking pretty baadly here as well, but he's the owner; he can afford to look bad. And given the state of the team, Ireland already looked about as bad as he's ever going to look. But Sparano looks like a guy who's "just happy to be in the show," and you can't lead a group of oversized egos if you're just happy to be there. Of course, that's indicative of how Sparano has coached in game situations for the last three years, so it's no great surprise he'd take this kind of treatment silently. He won't be here for all of next season; I'll bet money on that.

As a fan, lucky me right, I'm left wondering stupidly.  Actually, I don't even know what to say (type rather).  I mean, is this a joke or does Ross just enjoy making an @ss out of himself, the players, and the fans.  I can say that Stephen Ross is another Al Davis / Daniel Snyder in the making.  And adding insult to injury after a horrible tail spin of a season, the Dolphins brass is asking for public funding to renovate the stadium.  I think Dolphins organization is being operated by an underground group known as the Marlins front office.  Panthers - SUCK!  Marlins - SUCK!  Dolphins - SUCK! The U - SUCKS!  Luckily for us we have the women and the weather to gets us through the day.
In other news: The self proclaimed leader in sports is reporting that the Dolphins have now offered Tony Sparano a one year extension through 2012.  His best friend Jeff Ireland will be handing him the pen as he signs the extension and wishing him the best.

Sparano the winner?

A lame duck in the last year of his contract (it would seem) is not a winner.
He would have been the winner had they fired him so that he could collect his salary for nothing, instead the team may not respect him causing a very low chance he earns a long term extension.

August589 - CBS Moderation staff does not rate the posts, it is automated based on grammar and the amount of times you insert an active coach, player, or team into the content.

In addition I have it on good authority from R.W. Chan and Ian R. on the moderation staff that they are not here to enforce the terms of service, that personal attacks, stalking, and violations of the terms of service are not the concern of the moderation staff in any way.

Their concern is to ensure traffic is generated so as to increase advertising.

To facilitate this they support and allow trolling and stalking behavior, as these types of posters are the most active on the site.
