Good for the Eagles

Posted on: November 8, 2009 4:58 pm
PHILADELPHIA -- Many times teams are criticized for rushing injured players back on the field so when a team shows caution with a hurt player they deserve applause.

The Eagles decided to sit Brian Westbrook for Sunday's game against Dallas and they should be seriously credited for doing so. Westbrook suffered from a concussion several weeks ago and despite the magnitude of the game the Eagles showed restraint.

Too many times teams have forced concussed players back into service or allowed them to return knowing they shouldn't be anywhere near the field.

I know what you're saying: why should a team receive credit for doing something they should?

The reason concussions are a huge problem is because in many instances teams have ignored the medical evidence and forced (or allowed) concussed players back onto the field too soon.

The message finally seems to be seeping through. Concussions are nothing to mess with.

Good for the Eagles

Agreed. Even as a huge Eagles fan, I'm very glad Westbrook is sitting out tonight.
