He tried to ruin the Super Bowl celebration with his childishness.
In the game, Boldin got into a heated argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley. After the game, instead of celebrating with his team, Boldin abruptly left the field, then abruptly left the locker room.
It was awful behavior.
Quarterback Kurt Warner also got into an argument with Haley during the game but you didn't see Warner acting like a petulant child afterwards. He celebrated with his teammates and enjoyed the moment.
I have to say in nearly 20 years of doing this, I've never seen a player more concerned about his arguing with a coach over making a Super Bowl.
What Boldin did almost never happens.
Congratulations on making history, Anquan.

Anquan Boldin is a JackassAny idea what that was all about? My son and I were watching the game and thought the same thing. Not exactly the best time to be showing your behind. We also saw Warner jawing, but that's no surprise, even expected. He is the leader on the field, a proven veteran, and he's always jawing with the coaches. I don't necessarily think that's cool, but what Anquan did was unbelieveable. I really did not see that coming. I had thought he was a pretty selfless player. Fitz had a monster game, again, has that got something to do with it? I hope not, because I believe players ought to celebrate others' success, not pout if they don't get the ball - you're trying to get to the Super Bowl. I hope there is something that will come out to at least somewhat justify his actions. Not sure what that could be. My coach could have called me a complete "blanking" moron. I might have said, kiss my grits (edited again of course) but I sure wouldn't have left the party! |

Anquan Boldin is a JackassBoldin is very jealous of Fitzgerald and wants a Fitzgerald like contract or has threatened to leave. Anquan BOldin is about Anquan Boldin and he will likely have to be traded in the offseason because he is a greedy malcontent. He also has a tendency to get injured. Can you imagine, in an economy wher epeople are lucky to just have jobs today, this character is getting paid tens of millions but wants a great deal more because he somehow thinks he is irreplaceable. Steve Breaston stepped in nicely for Boldin when Boldin was injured and reveivers are not that hard to find except when you are speaking of Fitzgerald type players. We can't afford to pay both Fitz and Boldin the same money, so goodbye Boldin and go take your act to oakland or Dallas or somehwere where they worship your kind. As for Warner...he always does jaw a lot with the coaches but he also has the capacity to apologize for his sometimes high strung attitude. He is a QB and coach at the same time or least thinks himself as such and he has paid his dues and loves his teammates. That is another thing you can't say about Boldin... |

Anquan Boldin is a JackassI'm sad to hear that. It really disappoints me when these icredible talents prove to be all-star narcissists. I miss the days I played sports with teammates who appreciated me as much as I appreciated them. By the way Benjie, congratulations, I was really pulling for the Cards. I'm a Cowboys fan - one who actually doens't "worship (his) kind" - but I am excited to see Arizona get an NFC Championship. What a season these guys are having. Has anyone already laid claim to the term "Warn-aissance?" If not, it's mine!

Anquan Boldin is a JackassMr. Freeman, I will not call you names, because I'm not a child, but it is nice to see you are so concerned with journalistic integrity that you would rush out a ten line blurb that is almost as whiney, and definitely as childish (is not more-so), as the behavior of the person you are putting to task in the name of being able to say you called him out first. And, come on -- that is why you wrote this, right? You want attention? I agree that Boldin was out of line and it is a shame he did not cool down in time to celebrate with his teammates and greet the press with a hearty smile, but it is worth noting that Todd Haley has already stated it was a "heat of the moment situation" and nothing more, but you would have known that had you done any research before hastily typing out your little diatribe. I'm sure your lack of journalistic talent has no direct impact on how well you sleep at night, but, personally, it scares me to death that you have a pedestal from which to haphazardly take shots in hopes of being able to say you said it first.

Anquan Boldin is a JackassI played with Anquan in college, and he is far from a selfish player or a bad teammate (though outsiders sometimes thought so even in Tallahassee). In fact, he might be the best teammate I've ever had in any sport and at any level. The dude works his tail off, leads by example and by voice, and does whatever it takes to win. Sure, he'll speak his mind with a coach once in a while (Warner did in this game as well, as you noted), but Quan is a consummate professional and stays in line with what the coach wants. We're not talking about a Terrell Owens here -- I guarantee there are 31 other teams in the NFL that would love to have Anquan Boldin on their team and in their locker room. The guy is a great football player (he could be a Pro Bowler at several positions), a great teammate, and a good man off the field. The Cards wouldn't be where they are without him, and he'll continue to play as hard as he can for them (and support his teammates as well) through the life of his contract. There are a lot of players that wouldn't have even been out there with that hamstring, but Quan worked his way back on the field and toughed it out. How many guys would come back like he did after that hit earlier this year? Face it, the guy is a warrior and if he wants to have words with a coach over something, he deserves a little slack. |
